Frequently Asked Softball Questions

Please reach us at lorenpalmroth@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Softball is becoming more competitive amongst youth girls. So we understand the importance and need for age‑appropriate divisions, a strong focus on fundamentals, and access to clinics and training. We have a designated batting cage facility, and also provide coaching mentors and skills clinics throughout the season to support both players and volunteer coaches.

The Arlanza PONY Baseball and Softball League is open to boys and girls ages 4–16 of all experience levels. First-time t‑ball players will have co-ed teams, and older children will be placed on teams based on their age and skill level. All children are welcome.

Teams are led by volunteer coaches, often parents or community members who love the game and working with kids. Every coach is background checked and verified before working with our organization. The league provides coaching support, practice ideas, and age‑appropriate training resources, so coaches can teach skills safely and effectively.

Practices and games are held at local fields within our community, with specific locations listed on the season schedule. The batting cage facility is also located nearby to make it easy for families to attend practices, games, and extra training sessions.

Absolutely. Parents can volunteer as coaches, assistant coaches, team parents, scorekeepers, or event helpers. Volunteer information and sign‑up options are available on our website and during registration.

We currently offer Spring and Fall seasons for both baseball and softball, giving families two opportunities each year to join the league and stay active in the sport. There is also an All-Star Season after the main spring season.

Yes, we offer team Jerseys and visors.

Players will have at least 2 practices per week scheduled by their coach. Not including batting cage practices.

Each team is selected based on a series of factors. Each team plays with its own appropriate age group, which is 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, and 16U. Skill level is assessed through tryouts, and players are placed on teams appropriate for their skills. So we can grant a player to play up.

Arlanza Pony caters to all skill levels. We pair each team by age group and skill to properly develop players in a safe and fun environment.

Frequently Asked Baseball Questions

Please reach us at lorenpalmroth@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Simple, we use real baseball rules! Our league offers age‑appropriate divisions, a strong focus on fundamentals, and a dedicated batting cage facility that all players can access as part of their membership. We also provide coaching mentors and skills clinics throughout the season to support both players and volunteer coaches.

Registration typically includes a team jersey and hat, regular team practices, a full game schedule, access to league‑run clinics, and use of our designated batting cage facility during league‑approved times. Additional items such as pants, a belt, and socks may be provided or listed as optional purchases depending on the division and budget.

Most players will need to bring their own glove, baseball pants (if not provided), cleats, and an athletic supporter for older divisions. Many families also choose to purchase a personal bat and batting helmet, but teams and the league will have shared equipment available.

Teams generally practice 2 times per week and play games on set days during the season. The specific schedule can vary by division, but families receive practice and game schedules before Opening Day so they can plan ahead.

Especially in the younger and developmental divisions, every player will have frequent opportunities to play on the field and bat in every game. As players move into more competitive divisions, coaches still strive to give each player meaningful playing time while balancing league rules and competitive play.

T-ball is co-ed amongst boys and girls. We may have the option to make full boys and girls t-ball teams, but that depends on the number of signups. As far as older age groups, girls are welcome to play baseball.

Our boys’ baseball program is open to players ages 4–16, from brand‑new beginners to experienced, advanced athletes. All players are placed in age‑appropriate divisions so they can learn, feel safe, and be properly challenged as they grow in the game.

We offer multiple divisions that progress by age and skill level, such as intro/t‑ball for ages 4–6, coach or machine pitch for ages 7–8, and additional divisions for intermediate and advanced players through age 16. Each level is tailored to the player’s age and development stage.

Players are placed on teams based on their league age, division, and any evaluations the league may conduct before the season. This helps keep play fair and safe and ensures each player competes with others at a similar age and or development level.

Yes. Our league is designed for all experience levels, and we especially welcome first‑time players. Younger and new players start in fundamental‑focused divisions where coaches emphasize basic skills, simple rules, and building confidence.

Yes, Arlanza Pony has partnered with a batting cage facility to allow our players to gain additional practice behind the plate.
